Let There be Light!

This was a very simple, but effective setup. The image was taken quite late in the evening and in darkness. All light is provided by off-camera flash, and the downside was having to setup by touch in the dark. We had a solitary LED torch, which helped, but it took a great deal longer to setup than I would have preferred.

Model Portfolio Photography

Model portfolio shoots are often daunting for both the model and the photographer. Often, it’s the first shoot for a model wanting to start a new portfolio. For the photographer, it can be a lot of work building the relationship and helping the model find their feet and feel comfortable.

Food Photography

All my food photography is client driven. Whether that’s restaurants, hotels, recipe books or Getty Images, the brief and styling is usually someone else’s decision.

Team Mini – Lloyd Motor Group South Lakes

I spent the early part of 2015 running around the Lake district and Cumbria in general. This was for Lloyd Motor Group, creating headshots, dealership interiors and exteriors, along with team shots etc. However, Cumbria being the black hole of connectivity that it is, this tutorial is somewhat late, and I apologise for that. I forgot!

Using Speedlights to Maximum Effect for OCF

This is OCF (off camera flash) at it’s cheapest, along with the use of some basic rules and techniques. Seeing as sunsets tend to be in short supply in the UK, I try and make the most of any sunset that coincides with an event I’m photographing, and this particular wedding at Murrayshall House in Perth, Scotland, was one such event.
