Meet Mr. Snowden. Jonny Snowden. All round good guy and thoroughly upstanding chap, but a rather reluctant model. I had offered to photograph his bike, but failed to mention I wanted to put his bike in context with him.
Car photography is a real passion of mine. Okay, so I’m a sucker for automotive photography of any description. And yes, I know I have said I really enjoy the big stuff, such as lorries or truck, and buses for that matter. But take a lovingly restored classic, where the attention to detail is something to be marvelled at, and that makes for a really enjoyable shoot.
Lanzet are a bespoke kitchen design and manufacturer, based in Preston. I was asked to provide updated images for their website and brochure etc., with the emphasis to be on the quality of their work, and craftsmanship.
CP Davidson are based in Chorley, and build custom lorry back ends, such as the skip hook adaptation pictured above. Therefore, the photography needed to concentrate on their work (The adaptation) rather than the cab. Obviously, the cab is the pretty bit, but the hook assembly is what they do, and what they sell.
I do enjoy photographing food. And photographing really good food is something else! This is the Cherry Tree at Blackrod. An outstanding venue with food to match. The colour and texture gives me plenty to work with, and it’s these two attributes I want to get across.
Automotive photography is one of the genres I really do enjoy. I like the challenge of the convex glossy or metallic surfaces, the challenge of hiding and avoiding reflections. What also gets my pulse racing, is the opportunity to photograph unusual cars. Cars such as the Tesla. While it’s not particularly rare, you don’t see one in every third parking bay at Tesco!

I wondered how the Fujifilm GFX 50s would deliver on a nice, low key food image, not too dissimilar to the renaissance era paintings we are familiar with. It really wouldn’t take an awful lot to light it, to be honest. Pretty much a single light, and a reflector.
This was the first real outing for the Fujifilm GFX 50s, with quite a rare incarnation of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage N430. The GFX turned out to be the absolutely ideal camera for the automotive or car photographer. This image was taken in Worden Park in Leyland, Lancashire.
