My initial interest in this unit had nothing at all to do with studio work, or even lighting for that matter. It basically utilises your mobile as a wireless, feature rich remote release. There is some overlap with the Miops Smart, such as the HDR mode and timelapse mode, but with a slightly different approach. The unit is small. Well, it’s actually tiny.

Whilst photographing the food for Boundary Mill, I was also asked to photograph the chefs. As I’d elected to road test the ELB1200 during the food shoot, I felt the environmental portraits of the chefs would make a good contrast to the food imagery.
I was lucky to be given early access to the Elinchrom ELB1200, and I wanted a number of shoots with various themes. Basically, to test the flexibility and capabilities of the unit.
