Food Photography in Lancashire
For me, food photography should say a lot more than just "food", it should capture the time, effort and passion that has gone into that particular dish. The ambience of the restaurant should also have a presence. I take into account the type of food I’m photographing, the time of day it’s normally served, and adjust the white balance accordingly, along with a few other things I take into account.
If it’s a breakfast type food, I have the white balance a little cooler, simulating early morning light. If it’s a mid day sort of meal, such as a lunch item, then the white balance tends to be warmer, simulating sunshine outside the room. An evening meal in a restaurant tends to be low key, giving a more intimate feel to the setting.
Whilst my food photography was initially within Lancashire, serving restaurants in Preston, Lancaster, Manchester, Bolton, Liverpool, Clitheroe, Blackpool etc., I now have established regular clients throughout the uk, including Sheffield, Birmingham, London, Perth, Stranraer, Whitehaven, Barrow-in-Furness, Brighton and Portsmouth.
This is one photographic discipline where restaurants can really reap the benefits of creative lighting and an eye for detail.
